Providing a Concrete Framework for Translational Opportunities

By generating a quantitative framework to understand cell fate transitions and by disentangling mechanisms that drive cell identity and the underlying differentiation programs, we aim to identify markers for epigenetic and transcriptomic changes in cell behavior that can be used for disease diagnoses and prognosis. In addition, we want to bring cutting edge epigenomic technologies to clinical diagnosis. We will be able to do this by promoting projects where students can perform internships with the collaborative medical partners (Western General Hospital, Edinburgh; Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh; Klinikum Grosshadern, Munich).
