Document Clarification

Degree certificates and transcript of records

The transcripts of your Bachelor and Master certificates or equivalents should contain the courses followed during your studies with the grades and credits obtained for each course, as well as an average grade for the entire degree and a detailed grading scale. In addition your Master certificate should include your master thesis. Specific data that should be mentioned in the transcript are the thesis grade and credits, title of the thesis. Ideally the thesis title and duration are also included. If any of this information is missing from your certificates, you are required to obtain an official statement from your university containing the missing information.

Applicants still studying for their Master's degree may provide a provisional certificate or bona fide statement from the University stating the marks already obtained and estimated graduation date. Applicants accepted in the program are required to have completed their Master's degree before they can start their PhD work in the program.

Reference letters

Only reference letters directly submitted by your referees will be accepted. Reference letters send to us by applicants cannot be accepted! Your referees can submit their reference letters through the application portal. You will be requested to fill out the details of 2 referees during your application, they will then automatically receive the request for the reference letters. Please make sure to fill out the correct details of your referees in the application system and make sure they are available to write your reference letter.

English Proficiency

The PhD training program offered by the EpiCrossBorderss program is in English.  As such, we request applicants who are not native English speakers to demonstrate their proficiency in the English language upon application. You can do this by providing us with one of the following:

  • proof that a significant part of your university education was conducted in English
  • a statement from your university or a supervisor your English proficiency
  • by providing certificates from English language tests you have taken (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, CAE).

High School Diploma

A high school diploma is not required for your application application to the EpiCrossBorders program.

Please note, however, that should you be accepted on to the program, you will have to register at a university (LMU or TUM) for which you will need to present your high school diploma and potentially also an official English translation. Because of this we request you to submit your high school diploma with your application.

When collecting and preparing the documentation for your application please contact your referees in time. The reference letters are an essential part of the application and it is your responsibility to ensure that all documents including the reference letters are received by us before the submission deadline. Only complete applications received by the deadline will be considered.
