A Successful Weekend of Scientific Outreach at the Deutsches Museum

From 14–16 November, the Epigenetics Community at Helmholtz Munich brought “Stem Cell Stories” an interactive exhibition about cell identity to the public at the Deutsches Museum.

From 14–16 November, the Epigenetics Community at Helmholtz Munich brought “Stem Cell Stories” an interactive exhibition about cell identity to the public at the Deutsches Museum. The event invited visitors of all ages to explore how a single stem cell develops into the diverse cells of the human body — and how epigenetics shapes this process.

Hands-on stations, games, microscopes, and AI-powered visualizations made complex science accessible and engaging.

A highlight of the weekend was the panel discussion on “AI & Ethics in Biomedicine”, held on 14 November. Experts from Helmholtz Munich, EMBL Heidelberg, TU München, and Süddeutsche Zeitung shared insights on how artificial intelligence is transforming stem cell research and the ethical considerations that come with it. The discussion underscored the importance of transparency and public engagement in shaping the future of biomedical innovation.

Why it matters:
Science doesn’t exist in isolation. It thrives when we engage with society, exchange ideas, and build trust through open communication. Events like “Stem Cell Stories” strengthen this connection and highlight our commitment to outreach and dialogue.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event a success — and to all visitors who joined the conversation!
