The Edinburgh Epigenetics Community

Whatever your definition of epigenetics Edinburgh University has been an important player. Conrad Waddington was Professor of Animal Genetics and coined the idea of an epigenetic landscape to more recent studies from Professor Adrian Bird and his team in DNA methylation and CpG islands. Edinburgh has a vibrant epigenetics community with many local seminars and Edinburgh Chromatin, Epigenetics and Transcriptional Regulation Meetings co-ordinated by Dr Doug Vernimmen and Dr Sari Pennings. Due to a good critical mass Edinburgh is a great place for epigenetics whatever your research topic: chromatin, centromeres, gene regulation, transcription factors, stem cell biology and many more. Collaborative PhD programmes bring the expertise from different teams together to make new discoveries. Be a part of our exciting program!
